Dear Friends and Supporters,
In the days leading up to Taste of KCK, we were watching the weather forecast almost hourly. As snow and freezing temperatures moved into the Kansas City area, we carefully considered our options. Ultimately, after much discussion and prayer, we decided to move forward with the event. The food had already been generously prepared and donated, and our volunteers remained eager and committed to serving. We knew that no matter the weather, the heart of our community would show up…and you did!
While it was snowy and bitterly cold outside, inside Resurrection Catholic School the atmosphere was warm and joyful. Our teachers, staff, and volunteers arrived ready to serve with smiles that immediately lifted spirits. The delicious food, lovingly prepared by members of our community and local restaurants, filled the building with warmth and generosity. From savory dishes to sweet treats, every bite was a reminder of the talent and care within our Resurrection family.
One of the most moving moments of the evening was hearing from our student speaker, Fernando. A video of his speech is linked below. He shared about his family and his experiences at Resurrection Catholic School. His stories reflect the journeys of so many of our students. His words reminded everyone that Resurrection is more than a school. It is a community that supports families, nurtures faith, and opens doors to opportunity.
Our highlight video, also linked below, further showcased the many ways Resurrection serves students beyond academics through faith formation, enrichment opportunities, family support, and programs that help students grow socially and emotionally. The video captured the spirit of our mission and the transformative impact of a Resurrection education.
Although only about half of our tables were filled due to the snow and cold, the generosity in the room was undeniable. We were still able to raise an impressive amount of money the night of the event. Guests even purchased to-go boxes of the delicious food and bags of tamales to take home.
To make up the difference between what we raised that night and our overall goal, we launched a 48-hour fundraising flash drive. Once again, our community showed us support. With the added excitement of a $5,000 matching donor, supporters rallied quickly and generously and with our donor match we were able to raise $4,851.25 in just 48 hours!
Thanks to our sponsors, donors, volunteers, restaurants, families, and friends, Taste of KCK 2026 raised an incredible $170,287.50!
These funds will directly support student scholarships, building maintenance, curriculum and academic supports, our STREAM program, and future growth for Resurrection Catholic School. Every dollar raised strengthens our ability to serve students and families with excellence and faith.
Snow may have covered the ground that night, but it could not cool the warmth of this community. We are deeply grateful for your resilience, generosity, and belief in our mission.
Thank you for standing with Resurrection. We could not do this without you. ❤️
