Dear Resurrection Community,
As we celebrate Thanksgiving, I want to express my own thanks to God for all that He has given to me, and I am particularly thankful for the gift that is our school community at Resurrection Catholic School. Being thankful is a powerful disposition in our prayer. It makes us more aware of God and His providence, and how much we need Him. Gratitude is critical for our life of faith.
When we celebrate Thanksgiving, I cannot help but think of the Eucharist. The very word Eucharist comes from the Greek word for “thanksgiving.” Each time we gather for Mass, we give thanks to God for His saving love and the great gift of redemption. By receiving the Eucharist, the Real Presence of Jesus, body, blood, soul, and divinity, we are drawn into deeper communion with Christ and with one another. What we celebrate at the altar becomes the pattern of our life together: one body, many members, united in grace and mission.
Resurrection Catholic School is a living sign of that Eucharistic communion. Formed from five parishes, our school family reflects the unity of the Body of Christ—many communities joined by one faith, one hope, and one shared purpose: to form disciples of Jesus. Each child, parent, teacher, staff member, and parishioner brings unique gifts to the table, and together those gifts become something greater than any of us alone.
We give thanks to God for everyone who forms our community, whose prayers, participation, and support make Resurrection possible. We are so blessed to have Resurrection Catholic School where our children experience the joy of belonging—to their parish families, to this school community, and to Christ Himself.
As we gather around our tables this Thanksgiving, may we see in every meal a reflection of the Eucharist—the feast comes from God’s Providence, and that unites us in gratitude and love. May this spirit of thanksgiving lead us joyfully into Advent, as we prepare our hearts for the coming of the Lord.
With prayers for a blessed Thanksgiving, I am
Sincerely and Gratefully Yours,
Rev. Anthony J. Saiki
