Student Showcase Spring 2023

Last Friday, Resurrection students had the opportunity to display many projects that they have been working on all semester, or even all year, in the gym for the whole school to see during our second annual Student Showcase. Each grade level had at least one project that was celebrated. Middle School Science teacher, Mary Turner, displayed her 7th graders’ Science Fair projects. 6th, 7th and 8th grade students showed off their Project Lead the Way Projects which they have been hard at work at all year long with Mr. Hladky. 8th graders created Apps of their very own that younger students were able to experiment with on ipads. 8th graders also displayed their Hexagon Art Exhibit, which was a collaborative project between art teacher Mrs. Riley and Professor of Mathematics at Rockhurst University, Dr. Zdeňka Guadarrama. Their artwork, designed to be a physical manifestation of mathematical concepts, is also displayed in the Rockhurst Greenlease Art Gallery until May 14.

From Ms. Wright’s Makerspace class, Kindergarten displayed the kites they had made and even tested outside to see if they would fly! 1st grade showed off their mechanical engineering knowledge by building Land Sail Cars, 2nd grade designed functioning pinball machines, and 3rd grade built 3D Models of Tiny Houses. This was the culmination of a dynamic Architecture unit, led by a student from the University of Kansas School of Architecture. 4th grade engineered electric machines powered by tiny motors, and 5th grade showed off their remote-controlled Vex Robots that they built in their Robotics and Automation Project Lead the Way class.

This event was so fun and important to show appreciation for all the hard work being put in by teachers and students alike, day in and day out.

We look forward to inviting parents and other community members next year to view our impressive student work, and get a firsthand look at the various skills our students are learning and developing each and every day at Resurrection Catholic School.
