Friday mornings at Resurrection, the 2nd floor of our building is bustling with 8th graders getting ready for the day. Chatting up a storm and making sure they have everything they need from their lockers. They sport class t-shirts they fundraised for with their last names and class motto on them, as they hurry to their homerooms to start their learning for the day. The countdown to graduation is something that they have been so excited for, but at the same time, has led them to slowly realize the reality of leaving the doors of RCS.
The 16th graduating class of RCS comprises of 37 bright and unique minds. Some have known RCS “all their lives” as they say, and some have made a home in this community in such little time. Being an 8th grade homeroom teacher is a bittersweet role and I have had the privilege of preparing this class for such an important day. The 8th graders are currently preparing their Celebration of Achievement presentations as a culmination of their academic careers at RCS, reflecting on our five core values. They reflect on their achievements, memories and the knowledge and wisdom they have gained that they will take with them to high school and beyond. The high schools they will be attending are as listed: Bishop Ward, Bishop Miege, St. Thomas Aquinas, St James Academy, Cristo Rey Kansas City, Sumner Academy of Arts and Science, Pembroke Hill and Wyandotte.
Our 8th graders, more than ever, need prayers of hope, strength and perseverance. This is such a busy time! And they are all climbing their own “Mount Everest.” We look forward to graduation and cannot wait to add 37 alumni to our school!
Blessings,
Mrs. Zagar
