LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS

There are three learning environments in which we are planning for this year.  While we hope to spend most of our time with on-site instruction, we are preparing to move between learning environments throughout the year as mandated by the Wyandotte County Health Department.

On-Site: Students return to the school building with modifications. Students will be 6 feet from each other when possible. Health department guidelines, including mask wearing and hand sanitizing will be followed.

Hybrid: When mandated by the Wyandotte County Health Department, this learning environment will include a combination of on-site AND remote learning environments. Social distancing and mask-wearing will be enforced while students and staff are on-site.

  • Chromebooks will be sent home with students.

  • The school will work with families with internet challenges.

  • Student grades will be given in the same manner as on-site instruction.

  • Students will be required to attend school virtually for a minimum of 6 hours each day during specific school hours. This will not be an optional check-in time but mandatory group instruction on their device.

  • Students will be required to be in uniform clothing and sitting at a table or desk when logged in from home.

Remote Learning: If we are forced to close specific classrooms OR the entire school, learning will shift to remote (online) learning.  This learning model will be more robust than the Continuous Learning Plan of last spring. It will offer more in-depth educational opportunities which will include direct instruction, grading, attendance, and accountability.

Separate Choice for Parents: Optional Remote Learning

Some of our parents have asked about the option of offsite learning for those families who are concerned about the risk of infection, even with mitigations in place. While we all feel that being in school with teachers, we will provide as much information as possible on what school will look like so our parents will be able to make a decision about their child attending school on-site.

This option of remote learning will be more robust than the Continuous Learning Plan of last spring.  This will include direct instruction, grading, attendance and accountability.

  • All students will have access to their Chromebook
